01. Onbrane as a Negotiation Tool

Initially, we connected Engie to Onbrane as a negotiation platform. This involved no IT integration, enabling Engie’s traders to get immediate value standardizing their curve creation process, and centralizing their negotiations with intermediaries on one platform. 

Within a day, Onbrane integrated SAML 2.0 authentication for seamless user management, allowing Engie treasury to manage authentication independently – this allowed them to see which team members were connecting to Onbrane.

02. Back-office Integration

Once the negotiation system was working smoothly, we started IT integration with Engie’s back-office systems and Euroclear France for automated ISIN retrieval.

For ISIN code retrieval, we connected Engie’s Onbrane account to Euroclear France. We also signed the POA with Engie’s Issuing Paying Agent, which authorized us to fetch ISIN codes for Engie on behalf of them. 

Then, API integration was set with Engie’s treasury management system – KTP. This allowed Engie to remove the need for manual re-entry of the transaction details into their system as now Onbrane was doing it for them. 

As the remaining step, we automated the process of sending cash instructions to the IPA.

As a result, Engie was able to achieve a full STP – 100% automated post-trade – for every NEU CP’s negotiated on Onbrane.

03. 100% Digital Post-trade - AI Smart import

With tens of billions of Eur worth of CPs issued on Onbrane over the years, Engie team has been using Onbrane for most of its transactions. However, they were still doing part of their trades off Onbrane, because some of their intermediaries are not connected on Onbrane, therefore negotiation remained scattered and post-trade manual. 

Engie approached us with their willingness to find a way to allow automated post-trade for the CPs negotiated outside of Onbrane. As well as benefit from our market performance analytics for all their trades. 

This is how our very first AI-powered feature – Smart Import – was inspired! 

Launched last week on production, Engie already started using Onbrane for 100% of their transactions. Here’s the breakdown of the process:

Once negotiated, Engie team simply copy and pastes deal information – whether in the form of an entire email, chat messages, or a quick note typed during a call – into a smart import field. And then AI takes over and turns it into machine-readable data, identifying the transaction details and filling in the relevant fields. 

From here on, post-trade is automated and no manual intervention is necessary.
